Cardinet-online system
Cardiology information system "Cardinet-online" (CIS)
was developed for distributed data gathering, central data storage,
exchange, processing and analysis of medical information. The developed
CIS provides automated reports generation. CIS is the scalable multi-user
computer system based on Internet/intranet technology.
CIS provides information gathering and exchange in a local network and via a remote access. The number of users is not limited.
"Cardinet-online" main features
- Scalability from a single workstation to the Internet.
- Ability to combine efforts of different hospitals in medical patient treatment based on unified patient clinical records available online.
- Easy access over any channels including phone lines.
- Measurement data integration from medical diagnostic equipment - live ECG records, ultra-sonic and X-ray films and images, etc. Software architecture allows third party equipment to be incorporated easily.

- Tools for building input forms, queries and reports. They allow medical personal to adjust and evolve system without programmers.

- Flexible and convenient user interface for building output documents, and the last are provided in Microsoft Word format with embedded measurement data.
- Reliable security and administration model.
CIS structure
- Central server is used for data storing and data requests processing.
- Clients' workstations are provided with specialized devices intended to gather measurement information during patient checkups (ECG, Echo, X-ray photography, etc.).
Special devices were developed for ECG signals acquisition, pre-processing and analog-to-digital conversion. Acquired digital data are entered to the PC via a common serial port.
Appropriate video capturing adapters are used for images and live video (Echo, X-ray photography).
Software
CIS server operates under Microsoft (MS) Windows NT 4.0 Server. MS Windows NT 4.0 Workstation is used on the clients PCs.
MS IIS 4.0 operates as a Web-server. Internet browser MS Internet Explorer 5.0 is used on the clients' workstations.
ASP 2.0, ActiveX - documents, custom ActiveX, VBScript and JavaScript
technology are used for dynamic HTML-pages creation, clients' data
pre-processing and providing access to the data stored at the server-side.
MS SQL Server 7.0 is used as a data store. Data access is provided
with ADO.
OLE-server based software was developed for specialized medical measuring devices. Those servers are installed on the clients' workstations with the aim of getting data from diagnostic medical equipment, estimating parameters according medical criteria, data compression and transfer to database server by embedding into HTML-pages.
Integrated development environment MS Visual Studio 6.0, MFC è ATL libraries were used for development OLE-servers and custom ActiveX. Components of MS Office 97/2000 controlled via OLE-automation are used for creation of final reports.
Installation and updating of client software is avalable via Internet Explorer.
